Recycle Batteries

merleburl January 7, 2026

Beginning January 1, 2026, all single-use and most rechargeable batteries will be accepted at retail and government locations throughout the state, The Illinois Battery Stewardship Law prohibits batteries from being tossed in the garbage and must be properly recycled. Visit https://www.call2recycle.org/illinois/ to find a drop-off location.
