Members of First United Methodist Church of West Chicago had the dream of collecting 5,000 pairs of shoes for the Shoeman Water Project, founded by George Hutchings. They reached their goal. Hutchings brought a truck from St. Louis and members loaded the truck. the shoes are sold to an exporter, who resells them to small business. The money from the sale of the shoes is used for clean water in poor countries such as Kenya and Haiti.
