The Polar Plunge event took place at Sunday, March 14, 2021, at Hawthorne’s Backyard Bar & Grill instead of its usual location at Loon Lake in Silver Springs. Persons attending threw “snowballs” at participating West Chicago police officers, West Chicago Fire protection District firefighters and even the contestant Miss Illinois who is representing our state in the Miss World competition.
